A culmination of inspiration ranging from hyper cars, jet fighters and space exploration, to futurism and the digital era. The Sky is the Limit, encompasses home-grown projects like the café-racer scene and life hacks, to create a unified visual of all forms of inspiration. It will be a melting pot of huge modelled engines; exhaust pipes, combustion chambers, cooling ribs, propellers, cockpits and complete vessels – a tribute to imagery seen in fancy car-workshops annex showrooms. The Sky is the Limit is a comprehensive concept that shows a frenzy of sculpture, paintings, drawings, integrated electronic music and 3D-animation, drawn together as one complete installation.
This ambitious series aimed to push the boundaries to the next level. Developing on from methods used to create previous works (eg. Freight, All Your Base) whereby sculptures were designed and then crafted by hand. The complexity of this series demanded a new approach that allowed The Sky is the Limit to become a conceptual and technical upgrade to the process.
Traditional techniques carry the work while digital solutions provide speed to the slow pace of modelling in clay. It's a catalyst in all the aspects of the creative process. Initially shaping the fundamentals with first sketches as a base for the 3D model that then provides the fast lane for determining the actual form before it is modelled in clay.
