As a part of the "The Enterprise"-series, ‘PP2’ takes you on a journey through the theme of combustion engines, showcasing its physical and emotional force.

Built entirely by hand, with no real engine parts, this sculpture is crafted from a fusion of spare parts from other sculptures, clay modelling and casting and high-tech spray paints. A hybrid of traditional and modern techniques.

The Wall of Sound

ongoing, 2020 iteration

The 'Wall of Sound' is a monstrous, ever-expanding monolith of speakers and amplifiers, all connected and pulsing with a terrifying energy.

Four amplifiers feed this behemoth, pushing out soundtracks I've composed specifically to bring my sculptures to life. But be warned, these aren't just any ordinary soundtracks - they're crafted from the eerie, otherworldly sounds I've recorded myself. Enter if you dare, but be prepared to have your senses assaulted.

Ciudad de Contenedores

2020

Installation build from wood and scrap wood
Approx. 100 Sqm.

A new container terminal for Antofagasta, Chile. Commisioned by the SACO 9 visual arts festival.

The port of Antofagasta is a city that runs on the back of its mining industry, with copper and lithium being its mainstay. But as I looked at this bustling coastal city, I saw something missing, something that I knew I could provide. That's why I set out to create an art installation that would not only enhance the city's shipping infrastructure but also add a touch of visual magic.

Introducing my sculpture that represents a new container terminal, an installation built specifically for the SACO9 visual arts festival. My proposal emerged as the winner of their international contest and I was commissioned to bring my vision to life.

’Ciudad de Contenedores’ is made up of intricately arranged wooden containers, each one carefully placed to create a cohesive, visually striking whole. The sculpture was installed at the location of a real container terminal, serving as a representation of progress and absurdism.

The artwork was a temporary installation and was open for public display in December 2020 and January 2021.

Pick & Go

2014
acrylic, glass fibre, wood, steel

153x285x210cm

A part of the Freight series. Pick & Go is inspired by the concept of hanging cranes destined to sort the goods in a harbour. The main feature of the sculpture is the game of balance and existence, almost archaic machinery are mixed with a sci-fi design language.

The sculpture is a mixture of modelling in clay, casting in acrylics, and building with wood and steel. The steel tackle that provides the equilibrium is cut and welded by hand.

Type 3 Bullet

2011

modelled in clay, cast in acrylic and concrete, polished by hand

20x280x25cm

Inspired by the Japanese Bullet trains, this is the most train-like sculpture from the Turbocharged series. It’s bullet-shape nose, cockpit and streamlined cut-outs are the core of it’s remarkable appearance.

Type 3 Bullet celebrates the fast lane on the conceptual side, but created in clay and hand-polished, it uses a slow-pace finishing technique to provide an unusual stress between content and elaboration.

Explosion

2010 - small series of 13 sculptures

epoxy, clay oil paint, spray paint, PU coating, steel

varying from 10x10x15cm to 35x35x150cm

Part of the All Your Base series, Explosion appeared as its wild counterpart, representing exploding missiles.

Though the majority were sculpted, several are modelled with carbon fibre epoxy and refined with the aid of a disc-cutter, before being coated with a mix of specialist car-paints and old-style oil paint. The result is raw but subtle forms, exuding the molten heat of rage.

Crash

2010

polyester, epoxy, oil paint, car paint, PU coating, steel
300x35x30cm

Part of the All Your Base series, Crash represents an imploding spaceship. The body of the ship is modelled in clay and cast in polyester.

However the impression of the collision is created with thickened epoxy, which is then coated with oil paint. This expression of dynamism challenges the fixity of much sculpture, rendering it an almost abstract piece depicting change in motion.

Tripod

2014

acrylics, marble powder, glass fibre, steel, pigment.

Tripod is a part of the Freight series

Elephant

2014

acrylic, marble powder, steel, oil paint
74x23x63cm

In comparison to other works in the Freight series, Elephant has a very anecdotal approach.

Inspired by the brutal and imposing straddle carriers found in Belgium’s harbour ports, Elephant - their nickname in the port of Antwerp - is a bestial and futuristic interpretation of these impressive machines.

This sculpture is modelled by hand and cast in high-tech acrylics.

Bullet

2010 - small series of 10 sculptures

epoxy, oil paint, PU coating, steel
200-300x6x15cm

Part of the All Your Base Series, the plethora of the Bullet sculptures represent missiles floating through the air, searching for their target.

These small entities have a span of up to 3 meters and are modelled by hand and cast in carbon fibre epoxy. Beneath the aesthetic is a dependable approach to application - from crude material finishing to the application of an oil-paint coating.

Blocked

2014

contains acrylic, concrete, ash, glass fibre, steel
36x22x187cm

Blocked is a good example of the abstraction of subject to the form. The idiom drives my art practice and if you're not briefed as a spectator, you won't know that this sculpture represents a crane. It began with the concept of the machine yet it ends with a different body that represents the same emotion, but aesthetically doesn't represent a crane per sé.

This sculpture is part of the Freight series

Containers

2014

acrylic, glass fibre, pigment
22x9x9cm

The main part of the enormous Freight project, these sculptures provided the desired colour and feel of the series. Where the rest of the Freight-sculptures use gentle and subtle; beige, grey and white colour-schemes, these little containers breath colour and create an underlying chemistry in the series.

The sides of these containers have a lot of different signatures and were created with 22 different base models, each with their own moulds, The result was 332 unique sculptures.

The containers were intended to work autonomously but also in large clusters, allowing the versatile ability to change the scale of the presentation, depending on the size of the area.
